Flamingo Happy Hour with Pattie's Creations

Happy Friday everyone I hope that you are all well and have had a lovely week.

Today marks the start of a new Challenge for July over on the Pattie's Creations Design Challenge blog 

The challenge runs from the first Friday of the month and its an Anything Goes challenge as long as you use a digital or stamped image in your project, so why not join in the challenge.

For my August project, I chose the Flamingo Happy Hour digital stamp.  I remember seeing a huge flock of flamingos when we visited Cuba staying on the beautiful Cayo Coca many moons ago and was inspired to create this card creating a colourful sunset background using distress inks. 

Did you know that the collective noun to describe a gathering of flamingos is flamboyance, and I think that's the perfect term.  In Spanish they are called Flamencos and we are lucky to have a huge saltwater lagoon not too far away called Laguna de Fuente de Piedra which is home to the second largest colony of these beautiful birds in Europe.

I created my background panel using distress inks and then positioned this on my 6" x 6" card blank.  I've used a wave stencil and white gel pen to create a little texture for my water.  Next I die cut an aperture from white cardstock to sit over the top creating a simple window. 

The simple strip sentiment is from Lisa Horton Crafts and I thought was perfect for my Flamingo couple drinking cocktails as the sun sets.

The digital stamp was printed out onto alcohol friendly card stock and coloured with my promarkers (see below for colours used)before fussy cutting out and mounting onto the card with foam squares fro dimension.

I cut a small sun from vellum and blended a little  yellow and red distress ink to this.

Just a few pieces of rose gold confetti around the design to finish it off.
