Digi Choosday - Birthday Girl - January Birthday Polkadoodles

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday.  Wishing you all a lovely day today and that you enjoy your week ahead...I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year.

It's that time of the week when we launch a brand new 'Anything Goes' challenge over on the Polkadoodles Digi Choosday Blog so I hope you are going to join in and don't forget the amazing discount off all crafty printable downloads until midnight today!

The theme set for the DT this week is to make a January birthday card, using the colour red and an oval.  

For todays card I decided to use one of the gorgeous images from the January Collection of digital stamps.  There are some absolutely gorgeous digital stamps in black and white and pre-coloured too if you prefer not to colour.

Its a larger 5" x 7" card with a piece of polka dot patterned paper layered on ruby card for the background.

I used a rick rack oval die to cut an aperture in the paper to expose the ruby card below, then created a frame for the aperture from red mirri card stock, using two of the rick rack dies.

I resized the January image and the coloured the image with Promarkers (see below for colours) before fussy cutting out and mounting on the card using foam tape in the aperture.

The sentiment from the Rebel Girl collection was printed onto white card, layered onto Ruby card positioned for January to stand on at the bottom of the frame.

To finish off the card I die cut hearts from the ruby card and mirri card and layered these onto the card, gluing some flat and two hearts on foam for depth.

I added glossy accents onto some of the polka dots on the paper also adding some into the aperture and onto the centre of the flower.
