A Passion for Markers Blog Spot Challenge #834 - Dots and/or Stripes - Sponsored by Polkadoodles

There's a new challenge started over on the Passion for Markers Blog challenge and I hope that you will join in.

This weeks challenge theme of 'Dots and/or Stripes' has been chosen by Natalie for team 2 and is being sponsored by Polkadoodles. 

I decided to make an upright easel card, creating my card base from a Kraft card 6 x6" card base.

I decided to start by choosing some pretty striped and dotty papers by Polkadoodles from the Tons of Love collection, using these to mat and layer onto my card base with a burgundy cardstock to contrast.  

I then resized the main Helga Hippo image to suit my card printing out onto alcohol marker friendly card before colouring with promarkers.

I die cut lots of hearts from the patterned paper and the card and used these to decorate the card along with lots of burgundy gems.  

The finishing touches were some simple white pen highlights around the design.

Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog - Guest Designer - All Occasions - Polkadoodles - Helga Hippo

Hello everyone happy Thursday ... I hope that your week has gone well so far...not long to go now until the weekend.

I'm back again to share my final card as Guest Chick for the month of September for the Krafty Chicks, its gone so fast and I have had loads of fun with these weekly challenges!

Every Thursday there is a new challenge on the Krafty Chicks blog and this week the challenge is All Occasions.

You can check out all the rules over on the blog itself and it would be wonderful if you join in with the fun.

My card today is a 6" x 6" Triple point card using the Helga Hippo collection by Polkadoodles.  It's a really lovely and extremely simple card to make and perfect to show off those gorgeous papers.

I started by creating the card base from a standard 6" x 6" card blank, cutting off two sections from the front panel to create a point.  Next I have chosen a couple of papers from the collection to matt onto the card base.

I fussy cut the Helga hippo and some cupcakes from the ephemera bundle and then used these to decorate the card base.  For a bit of extra bling I foiled the sentiment in teal foil and added teal confetti around the design, along with glitter and some glossy accents to the flowers in her hat.

Unusual Shape Floral Card - Helga Hippo Collection - Digi Choosday - Sprinkling a little Love with Polkadoodles

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday.  I hope that you have a lovely day today and that you enjoy your week ahead.

It's that time of the week when we launch a brand new 'Anything Goes' challenge over on the Polkadoodles Digi Choosday Blog so I hope you are going to join in and don't forget the amazing discount off all crafty printable downloads until midnight today!

The theme set for the DT this week is to create ' an unusual shaped floral card ' so I decided to create a pretty floral wreath card.

The card when flat fits perfectly into a standard 6" x 6" envelope.  I printed out one of the papers, a sentiment and also lots of flowers and leaves from the pre-coloured clip art flowers and foliage bundle.  I fussy cut out the flowers and leaves for my project and used a dark grey pen to outline the flower edges, hiding any white edges,

To create the card base itself I cut a piece of 6" x 6" white card and scored this at 3" to create a smaller tent fold base.  Next I use a couple of fancy circular dies to cut out 3  circular frames from the same white card, cluing two of these together to create a strong circle.  Next I cut a circle of acetate and then glued this to the circular frame before adding the third white circle over the top to hide the glued area.

I then used the smaller of the circular dies to cut into the top of my tent fold card, using the card envelope to determine how low to position the frame on the panel.

Once the base card was cut I added one of the patterned papers to the bottom, using the same die to cut out the top section.  To prevent the card from opening too much and to help it stand up better, I cut a strip of white card 1" x 2" scoring this at 1/2 ", 1", 1 1/2", concertina folding this to create an M shaped piece.  This was adhered inside the card at the bottom centre.

Next I adhered the oval frame to my base card and the decorated the wreath with the fussy cut flowers and leaves.

The sentiment was adhered into the centre of the acetate frame and I adhered a piece of white card to the back of the acetate to hide the glue - this can also be used to write a message on.

Finishing touches where some teal confetti around the design and  stickles to the centres of the flowers.

Helga Hippo - Relaunch - Cake, Presents, Party ! with Polkadoodles

Hello and happy Monday everyone.  I hope that you had a lovely weekend.

I'm very excited today to share my first card using the fabulous relaunch by Polkadoodles of Helga Hippo and oh my goodness she's such a cutie. 

In this relaunched collection there's everything you would expect from Polkadoodles including black and white digitals, pre-coloured images, papers, sentiments and now including print and cut SVGs and there are clear stamps also available if you prefer.

I decided to create a simple  A6 size popup card from lime green cardstock, choosing papers from an earlier collection Coffee, Tea & Cake. 

I used the papers  to determine my colour palette, colouring Helga with my Promarkers before fussy cutting her out. 

The sentiment is from the Winnie Daisy Fairy collection, printed out and fussy cut.

I added glossy accents to the chocolate icing to give it a lovely shine and added some small die cut candles. 

The finishing touches were a few pieces of silver confetti around the design.
