A Passion for Markers Blog Spot Challenge #853 - Faux or Real stitching - Autumn Birthday Wishes - Sponsored by Dis Digital Stamps

Hello and a happy Tuesday to you all I hope that you are having a lovely week so far!

Oh it's been a lovely few days with lovely sunshine in the day, cooler nights and refreshingly cool mornings....a little hotter this week but I can cope with that. LOL

I'm here today to let you know that a new challenge has started over on the Passion for Markers Blog.

This week our challenge is being sponsored by DisDigiStamps and the theme chosen by Kitty for team 2 is Faux or Real Stitching.

I quite often like to use dies that give a stitched edge as I love the texture they add to a design and I also love stamping stitches too so for my card today I decided to combine the two.

For my Autumnal birthday card I chose a sweet little image of a Squirrel carrying a huge acorn - this is Sammy's Surprise and its was a freebie that Di very kindly gave to her Facebook group members.

The image was coloured with a my promarkers and then I fussy cut him out adding foam tape to the back for dimension.

Next I create the background for the design, using an A2 ivory card blank and adding a layer of wood grain papers onto the front of the card.  I stamped a stitched border onto this in brown and then used a stitched edge die to cut a layer of leafy paper, adhering this on an angle.  Then I used a smaller stitched edge die to cut a second layer of woodgrain paper, adding a stamped stitched border to this before adhering to the base card agin on an angle.  The sentiment was cut as a wedge shape and I used the same stitched edge to add detail before inking with yellow and then orange distress ink.

Finally I added the sentiment and Sammy to the card.

The design was finished off with coffee coloured confetti, glossy accents to Sammy's nose, white gelly pen highlights and some little fussy cut out leaves from the leafy paper.

A Passion for Markers Blog Spot Challenge #851 - Floral Vibes - Just a little note from me to you - Sponsored by SheepSki Designs

Hello and a happy Tuesday to you all I hope that you are having a lovely week so far!

It's another busy week here again, despite the heat Granada again yesterday to collect my new flamenco dress ready for our town Feria at the end of September and off out today with friends, down to the coast to try a new restaurant, then Wednesday we have hospital appointments for John and the regular yoga classes for me and Karate for John...its a hard life being retired LOL, I don't know how we had time to go to work.

I'm here today to let you know that a new challenge has started over on the Passion for Markers Blog.

This week our challenge is being sponsored by SheepSki Designs and the theme chosen by Karen for team 2 is Floral Vibes - everyone loves flowers so were hoping for lots of lovely entries this week.

For my floral card decided I chose to use the Fuchsias Digital stamp, its such a pretty image and I love the flowers, I have never been very successful here in Spain sadly, possibly its too hot for them.

I wanted to keep the card clean and simple today so resized the image before printing out so the flowers were in a little window area on the card, adding a sweet sentiment below the flowers.  The image was coloured with a bold fuchsia pink and pale pink, these were my favourite flowers and then I used a paler grey blue to colour the small background area.

The design was finished with a gold die cut frame, white gelly roll pen highlights on the flowers and a few clear - blue gems.

Mice Party - Summit to Celebrate - Let's Celebrate - with Lili of the Valley LOTV

Hello everyone wishing you all a lovely Wednesday - I hope that you are having a lovely weekend and the weather is being kind where you are....we're currently having a few slightly cooler days which is lovely only 37C today LOL....and there is even a possibility of a few drops of rain for Thursday and Friday....I wish....

Everyone seems to have gone Eclipse crazy...trying to buy glasses last minute to be able to watch the event tonight!

It's going to be a total eclipse over Mallorca tonight and we had wanted to go and stay for a few days to see but it's crazy. the hotels were charging sooo much and inviting on a weeks stay.  So were gong to go up on to the house roof to watch.

We're only expecting a partial eclipse of about 95.8% here where we live with the event starting at 7:42 pm, maximum eclipse at 8:38pm ending at 9:09pm. Then the sundial set at 9:13....so I think it's going to be pretty special to see.

  

I'm back today with another cute card using one of the super cute digital stamps from the Mice Party Spring release by Lili of the Valley (LOTV) available from the Etsy shop. The collection includes 12 sweet  little mice, all ready to celebrate.

My fun and colourful card features the Summit to Celebrate Mouse image, coloured with my promarkers and I have added lots of lovely sparkle to make my card extra special.

I adhered a layer of co-ordinating striped paper from my stash to the 5" x 7" card base, covering it completely and then used a wavy stitched border die to cut out the mouse panel layering this onto the card base.

Finishing touches of white gel pen highlights, sparkly confetti and clear sparkle on the cake and a little drop of glossy accents to the mouses nose.

Digi Choosday - Hello Autumn - Yellow & Orange - Autumn is Coming card - Freddy Fox Collection - with Polkadoodles

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday... I hope that you're having a great week so far and that the weather is being kind to you.

I know its still the middle of Summer but as a card maker we try to get ahead and that sometimes feels like were making cards at the wrong time of the year...but I promise you it makes sense in the craft world LOL

It's time for the Design Team to share some more inspiration for our current 'Anything Goes' challenge over on the Polkadoodles Digi Choosday Blog. I hope you are going to join in and don't forget the amazing Digi Choosday discount off all crafty printable downloads!

The theme set for the DT this week by Nikky was Autumn is coming...using Yellow and Orange !.  I love the garden in the Autumn, the colours around are amazing and the high temperatures of the summer have started to subside.  I decided to reach for a digital stamp from the Freddy Fox Autumn / Fall Collection for my card today as he has the perfect colourings.

The digital stamp I have chosen is Apple Barrel Fox, resized for my smaller A6 card before printing out and colouring with Promarkers. I then used my ScannCut to cut out Freddy although it could easily be cut by hand.

I wanted to create lots of layers and textures for my card today so used lots yellow and orange distress inks to create an ink smooshed panel on watercolour card, allowing each colour to dry before adding the next colour, building up layers slowly.  

Next I added interest to this panel, stamping leaves and dots in distress oxide inks and added some gold stencilling too here and there.

I tore down the right hand side of the inked panel, leaving the white core exposed and then chose a couple of papers from the collection adding strips below the inked panel again with torn edges.

I used an arched dies to create a frame, in yellow and orange card and adhered this to the panel on the card.

My coloured Freddy image was mounted onto the card with foam tape.

I then stamped leaves from the leftover distress ink panel and hand cut these out.  I had a few mushrooms left over from another project so decided to colour these with orange and yellow alcohol pens to coordinate with the theme and layered these at the bottom of the card, along with a sentiment from the Freddy Fox collection.

To finish off my card today I've added white gelly roll pen highlights and scattered orange gems around the design as I always love a little sparkle on my cards.

A Passion for Markers Blog Spot Challenge #849 - Favourite embellishments - Keep Calm and Think Beach - Sponsored by Dr Digi

Hello and a happy Tuesday to you all I hope that you are having a lovely week !

I'm definitely not complaining but it's still really hot here, this week the temperature is hovering around 37C so thankfully a little cooler LOL, which means we can get a bit more done in the garden.  It would be lovely for a little rain as everywhere is so dry and crispy in the garden and the plants are really struggling sadly despite being watered, but with cloudless skies I suspect there's none coming soon.

We are off to Granada again on Wednesday so hoping it's not too uncomfortable there.

I'm here today to let you know that a new challenge has started over on the Passion for Markers Blog.

This week our challenge is being sponsored by Dr Digi's House of Stamps and the theme chosen by Elaine for team 2 is Favourite Embellishment.

For my card decided I chose to use Surfin Santa , resizing the image to suit my A6 card before printing out on alcohol friendly card and colouring with promarkers and cutting out with my ScannCut machine. 

Next I created the background scene using 3 distress inks, a little masking tape and a cloud stencil.

I added a little cream and white acrylic paint along the water line for texture to create the look of the sea foam on the sand.

My favourite embellishment are sequins and confetti as I think they go with everything, even this more masculine beach themed card.  I have used clear iridescent sequins on my card but they don't show up very well in my photo.

The card was simply finished with white gelly roll pen highlights and a brown fine liner pen to gibe the appearance of texture to the sand.

Cute Creatures - Sending Paper Hugs - Peacock - Set 1 with Lili of the Valley LOTV

Hello everyone happy Friday - The last day of July is here and I hope you have had a great month.

I'm off to my very relaxing yoga class this morning and then we are going to Granada for the day, shopping, eating and to watch the new Spiderman film and cool off a little LOL.

I'm back today to share another cute and fun A6 card using another of the very cute creatures from the Cute Creatures collection by Lili of the Valley (LOTV). Both sets are available now from the Etsy shop

If you haven't had a look, it's a fantastic collection of 2 sets of images, that you can buy separately or as a complete collection - I know which I would choose as its a fantastic price for what's included. Each set contains 93 cute little creatures or you can get all 186 creatures.

Today for my fun and colourful card I have used the gorgeous little peacock from set 1.  

I resized the little peacock for a landscape A6 card printing out and colouring with my promarkers before fussy cutting out.

Next I created an embossed background panel.  Ive had the peacock feather embossing folder in my stash for many many years LOL so cut a panel of white card and then inked the raised feathers with distress oxide ink before running through my cutting machine.  I wanted to add a little more colour so added more green ink and passed the folder through the machine a second time.  Next I used a deep blue acrylic paint and my brayer to add the dark paint over the panel, carefully applying a thin layer and building up the coverage slowly so not to fill the green feathers with pain. I love the matt texture this gives to the card.

I created a split panel landscape card, cutting the front panel of the card adding the embossed panel to the top with a strip of acetate in the middle.

The sentiment sticker was added to the acetate, so it appears to flow and the coloured peacock was adhered across the two panels.

To finish off the card I have added gold confetti, white a metallic gold gel pen and clear sparkle pen.

Cute Creatures - Hi There - Set 1 with Lili of the Valley LOTV

Hello everyone happy Friday - I hope you have had a great week....Im off to may very relaxing yoga class this morning - just what I need after a very hot week, then tonight we are going walking down on the coast with our local walking group....bound to be loads of fun and extremely noisy LOL.

Today for my fun and colourful card I have used the very sweet little dragonfly from set 1 today.  I wanted to have a play for this card so decided to colour the little dragonfly using some fluorescent gel pens that I have had in my crafty stash for a while.  I wanted to create a fun burst of colour as I think that dragonflies are just magical and their colours are amazing. I used grey promarkers to colour his head and a silver metallic pen for the body and antennae.

We have a few different types here where we live and we often see them swooping around the pool , catching the little flying insects then dropping to the pool and skimming along the water.  I also love these little insects as I love the Spanish word for dragonfly...it's libélula and it's such a happy magical word!

To create the colourful rainbow background I have blended distress inks through a paint splatter stencil using a rainbow of colour. 

The card was finished off with white gelly pen accents, extra clear sparkle to the dragonfly wings and clear sparkly sequins around the design.

Cute Creatures - Float through life on a wave of happiness - Set 1 with Lili of the Valley LOTV

Hello everyone happy Friday - I hope you have had a great week.

The very high temperatures are sticking around here and all across Europe at the moment, ranging from 36 to 40C most days locally...manageable for a few hours in the mornings but then by lunch everything has to stop and then its all about finding something to do out of the heat.

There have been loads of wild fires around the town already and they are breaking out every day in Andalusian region - very sad and very scary !

I'm back today to share a cute and fun A6 underwater card using another of the little sea creatures from the Cute Creatures collection by Lili of the Valley (LOTV). Both sets are available now from the Etsy shop, there's also currently a fabulous 50% discount with eligible orders.

I have used to sweet looking jelly fish from set 1 today, coloured in my favourite palette after printing out onto alcohol friendly card and cutting out on my ScanNCut.

This critter is definitely a lot cuter than the Mauve Stinger that stung me last year whilst snorkelling LOL

To create the  underwater background I have blended distress inks across a panel of card before using a wave stencil to dry emboss this, blending a darker ink over the raised areas.

I adhered strips of watery looking paper at then sides of the embossed panel and then added a stamped sentiment at the bottom of the card, finishing it off with white gelly pen accents and sparkly gems.

Hopefully my fun underwater card will make you feel a little cooler today

Cute Creatures - Make a Splash - Set 2 with Lili of the Valley LOTV

Hello everyone happy Sunday - I hope you are having a lovely weekend.

Last night we went on an adventure, a night walk.... we went walking with one of the local groups to explore The Sierra de Lújar mine  which is an active underground operation located in the mountains above Órgiva. The mine, Minera de Órgiva, S.L., it is one of the few sustainable fluorite mines in Europe, extracting high-quality fluorspar and the operation is known for its environmental practices, such as recycling 90% of its water and backfilling waste into old tunnels.

The mine is located in the mountains opposite are house and we can often see dust clouds as vehicles make their slow way up and down.

My goodness it definitely was an adventure...the group met just down the road at the Camping restaurant around 7pm and we set off in a couple of mini busses and a few 4x4 vehicles too.  It took around an hour to get to the mine entrance high up in the clouds as the track was very bumpy, and dusty and out poor minibus really struggle...the driver was amazing and we only had to get out once while the engine cooled a little and he manoeuvred over a difficult stretch of track.  

The views from the top were spectacular so it was well worth me having my eyes closed most of the journey up LOL. It was a really strange experience walking in the dark with torches and quite strenuous in places but Im so glad we went, despite getting home at midnight and being shattered.....we decided to skip the food after the walk as we were so tired. There are loads of photos on my Facebook page if you are interested.

It's a lot cooler here today thankfully with temperatures due to reach 34C this afternoon but after the high heat we've had it's a welcome relief and there even a chance of light rain next week ..... yippee !

I chose a hammerhead shark, a great white and the sweet little manta ray resizing them to suite my card before printing out onto alcohol friendly card and fussy cutting out.

Next I created my underwater background, using lots of distress oxide inks, blending to create rays of light and a bank of sand at the bottom...its was loads of fun !

I used a stencil from my stash to create the coral at the bottom of the card adding little white highlights.

I added a stamped sentiment in the top corner of the panel and  finished off the card with glossy accents bubbles and clear shimmer pen on the sharks and ray.

Cute Creatures - From All the Gang - Set 1 & set 2 with Lili of the Valley LOTV

Hello everyone happy Sunday - I hope you are having a lovely weekend.......its a scorcher here today with temperatures due to reach 40C this afternoon so my card today has definitely got those desert vibes.

I'm back today to share a fun 6" x 6" card using some of the little dinosaurs from the Cute Creatures collection by Lili of the Valley (LOTV). available now from the Etsy shop with a fabulous 50% discount

I chose several of the dinosaurs and resized them to suite my card before printing out onto alcohol friendly card and cutting out with my ScanNCut.

One of the Pterodactyl's was reversed and made smaller so it looks like a little one with its mum/dad

All of the little critters in the collection are so easy to colour and you can really use your imagination with them...especially with the dinosaurs, after all whose going to know if the colours aren't correct LOL

Next I created my background, using a fantastic Simon Hurley layering stencil I treated myself to and distress inks to create my desert sunset scene.

You know me with bold colours, I just can't help myself..... LOL

I added a sentiment from the collection in the top corner of the panel and little white gelly roll pen highlights to the cactus in the foreground.

A Passion for Markers Blog Spot Challenge #841 - Favourite Colour combination - Hope your day is buzzing with Joy - Sponsored by Clearly Besotted

Hello and a happy Tuesday to you all I hope that you are having a lovely week !

The weather has been wonderful so far, lovely and hot during the day but not too hot at night - so far LOL.

We are busy preparing the house for my cousin and her husband arriving on Thursday and Im really looking forward to seeing her again - we have loads to catch up on.

We have lots of days planned, lots of meals and drinking and obviously chilling by the pool too.  Im hoping to persuade her to come to Yoga with me too on Friday.

This weeks challenge is sponsored by Clearly Besotted Stamps and the theme this week is Favourite colour combination. - I find this really difficult as I have lots of colour combinations that I love and it all depends on how I feel at them time but for today as the bees are busy in the garden I chose to Pink, Green and lemon for my card today.

It's a simple circular card made using one of the gorgeous images from the Buzzy Bee collection by Polkadoodles.  This is Buzzy Talk, coloured with my promarkers.

The circular card was die cut from yellow card stock and I used a layer of paper from the collection as my base layer.

To finish off my fun Buzzy Bee card I added sequins around the design, lots of sparkle and lots of glossy accents to the little bees.

New Release - Summer Fun - Launch Bundle Offer - Sea Life - with Lili of the Valley LOTV

Hello everyone wishing you all a lovely Sunday - I hope that you are having a great weekend.  I don't know about you but I'm definitely ready for some Summer sunshine maybe a trip or two to the beach and a little splashing around in the sea - its been a mixed Winter and Spring here so far which has been quite unusual.

I'm back today with a fun A7 (5" x 7") underwater scene card using some of the little Sea Life icons from the new Summer Fun collection.

Its a fantastic bundle of 3 sets of images - Summer Days, Sea Life and At the Beach by Lili of the Valley (LOTV). available now from the Etsy shop. 

There are loads of cute images to play with in the collection and they are so easy to colour and make really cute cards - I'm sure you'll love them and the whole bundle is still on offer. The sentiment I chose to use is from the Dragons and Unicorns set 

I printed out the sea creatures and the sentiment onto alcohol friendly card and coloured these with my promarkers before cutting out with my ScanNCut.

Next I created my sea and sand for the scene, using Brushos and watercolour card allowing this to try completely before assembling my card.

I matted the water and sand onto a panel of dark navy card as I love the contrast this gives.

Finishing touches were some little glossy accents bubbles and white gel pen highlights around the design.

The shimmer from the Pixie Powder is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for the water.
