Ocean Whispers, hugs and fishes - New Release - Aquatic Adventures with Julia McNeill Designs

Hello everyone Happy Monday I hope that you had a lovely weekend.

It's time for me to post my next project for JMC Designs  and also my MerMay creation.

The prompt for today from JMC Designs is 'Something Fishy !' so I've gone overboard with loads of fishy ephemera from the brand new digital collection Aquatic Adventures

I love all these bright colours it makes such a fun design I think

I decided for my project with this new collection to make a multi- tiered Popup Box card to create another underwater scene. I thought this style would be prefect and look like lots of layers of waves in the sea.  The card is very simple to create.  I cut the card pieces to start off from a light aqua card stock.  To create the same size you need the following pieces.

For the main box panel a piece of card 9 1/2" x 6", scored at 1 3/4" & 7 3/4"

For the different tiers I cut 5 additional pieces from the same aqua card,

  • 5" x 6 1/2"
  • 4" x 6 1/2"
  • 3" x 6 1/2"
  • 2 1/2" x 6 1/2"
Each of these tier panels is scored identically at 1/4" & 6 1/4"

If you have never made one of these cards before then I would highly recommend watching one of Sam Calcott of Mixed Up Crafts YouTube videos as she explains how to assemble the card really clearly and once you understand the mechanism you can adapt the measurements to suit the card you want to create.  Here is the link to the video

Next I printed out one of the wave style papers from the collection, I chose the Bubbled Waves paper and used this to cover the back of the card base and the tier sections.
You don't need to cover each tier completely as they wont be visible once the card is assembled and I don't like to waste my papers.  Each strip I used was about 1 1/2" in width.

Next I printed out the pre-coloured fish ephemera from the collection and a few pieces of seaweed fussy cutting  these out.  I used a dark grey pen to cover the white edges ( great if you aren't too good at fussy cutting as it hides any mistakes! )

The ephemera was then adhered to the card, some flat, some with foam tape to create my underwater scene. I love the little startled fish hiding in the seaweed at the bottom, isn't he a cutie.

The sentiments, top and bottom are also from the collection,  printed out and simply matted on the aqua card.

I used a blue metallic pen to draw a squiggly line around them for a bit of sparkle.

The finishing touches to the card were some white iridescent sequins around the design to add sparkle and shine, white gel pen to highlight some of the bubbles on the paper, glossy accents to the fish eyes and I've added stickles to the fish for extra sparkle.  Definitely a very fishy card !

I really hope that you like my project today and it would be lovely if you you leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Hasta luego ๐Ÿ‘‹

Enjoy the rest of your day !

Mermaid Kisses, Starfish Wishes - New Release - Aquatic Adventures with Julia McNeill Designs

Hello everyone Happy Monday I hope that you had a great weekend.

It's time for me to post my next project for JMC Designs .  There is a brand new digital collection called Aquatic Adventures and  I think you are going to love it as much as I do!

Perfect timing too if you love to create for MerMay!

It's a fabulous collection of 29 Digital stamps, 29 Pre Coloured Stamps, 11 ephemera sheets, 18 papers, 5 topper sheets and 4 sentiment sheets, so you will be spoilt for choice.

It's amazing value for money and there is a special 20% discount off the kit until midnight tonight (GMT) using the code aqua20 at the checkout

I decided for my first project with this new collection to make a bridge fold card so I could create an underwater scene, so cut a piece of aqua cardstock 7" x 7" and then scored this at 1", 2", 5" and 6".  The bridge section is a piece of card 5" x 1".  Its a really simple fold but perfect I think for this design.

I printed out one of the papers from the collection and used this to cover the card base and the bridge section.

Next I resized some the the pre-coloured elements from the collection and then printed them out before fussy cutting out.

I used a dark grey pen to cover the white edges ( great if you aren't too good at fussy cutting as it hides any mistakes! )

The ephemera and digital images were then adhered to the card, some flat, some with foam tape and I also used acetate so the mermaid and the fish appear to be floating in the sea.

The sweet sentiment also from the collection was printed out and then I've applied teal foil for the underwater look.

I
The finishing touches to the card were some sequins around the design to add sparkle and shine.

I really hope that you like my project today and it would be lovely if you you leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Hasta luego ๐Ÿ‘‹

Enjoy the rest of your day !

Best Fishes - Birthday's with Pattie's Creations

Happy Friday everyone I hope that you are all well and have had a lovely week.

The first Friday of the month marks the start of a new Challenge for December over on the Pattie's Creations Design Challenge blog

The challenge runs from the first Friday of the month and its an Anything Goes challenge or our theme for March is Birthday's and as long as you use a digital or stamped image in your project, so why not join in the challenge.

Winners of the challenge will receive 2 digital stamps of your choice from Pattie's shop.

Pattie has some wonderful digital stamps in her Etsy Shop pattiescreations and there is also a freebie every month on the blog that you can use in your project if you want to!

For my March project, I chose  to use the Silly Fish in a Bowl digital stamp to create a 6" x 6" card.

Birthday's in March fall across Pisces February 19 - March 20 and Aries March 20 and ends April 18, so I thought these Sill Fish would be perfect for a March birthday.

I resized the image to suit and printed it out, colouring with Promarkers and then fussy cutting out.
The sentiment on my design panel is from the Starfish & Sandcastles collection by Polkadoodles, printed and layered with purple card.

I chose papers to resemble water and adhered these to a Kraft card blank, die cutting a circle in the centre and adding a purple fancy frame around the centre circle.  The main image was mounted into the centre of the card using foam tape for dimension and then I have die cut leaves that look like seaweed to adhere around the frame.  I added a little distress ink to the leaves for interest.

To finish off the card I added a few sequins around the design and glossy accents fishes eyes - they are silly fish after all.

I do hope that you like my card for today and don't forget to join in with this months challenge over on the blog.

Mermaid Wishes & Starfish Kisses with Pink Gem Designs

Hello everyone wishing you all a happy Thursday... I hope that your week is going ok....nearly the Weekend !

I was out for lunch yesterday and had a lovely meal at our local bar, a  great catch up and then a few drinks and tapas later in the evening with friends at the same bar to finish off the day....it's hard work being retired ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

We have some friends coming to visit today so were busy preparing and tidying up which is quite difficult outside at the moment as everywhere is covered in yellow powdery pollen and flowers from the olive trees - its like there is confetti everywhere!

Hopefully this will mean a better crop of olives this year. ๐Ÿคž

Today I am sharing a card that I have made for for Pink Gem Designs using the very sweet Mermaid Octopussy digital stamp set

This fabulous set includes a black Line art image and a pre-coloured version for you to use.

I decided for todays card to create an underwater scene for my sweet mermaid Phoebe and also used digital stamps from the
Mermaid Build a Scene set of digital stamps.  The image and background have been coloured using my promarkers (see below for colours)

The sentiment that I've used has been in my crafty stash for many years and was from a craft magazine but I thought it went well with my design for this one layer card.

I am really enjoying creating these one layer scene cards at the moment and  I think it's really helping me to improve my colouring skills.

I really hope that you like my card today and it would be lovely if you you leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
