Ocean themed picture - Coral Mermaid - Digi Choosday - Keep calm and think Beach with Polkadoodles

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday.  I hope that you have a lovely day today and that you enjoy your week ahead.

It's that time of the week when we launch a brand new 'Anything Goes' challenge over on the Polkadoodles Digi Choosday Blog so I hope you are going to join in and don't forget the amazing discount off all crafty printable downloads until midnight today!

The theme set for the DT this week is to create a Ocean themed project but not a square or rectangular card so as it's still May for a few more days and we are still celebrating everything MerMay I decided to make a picture instead of a card. Just a few more days to join in with the MerMay2024 celebrations across the arty world.

I decided to use one of the gorgeous mermaids from the Coral Mermaid collection, this digital stamp is Coral Mermaid on the rocks  I started off by resizing the digital stamp to suit my frame which is 5" x 7" in size and colouring her in with promarkers - don't you just love her hair !

Next I chose one of the papers from the collection and used this to cover the background of my picture frame - I've removed the glass that was in the frame as I like being able to touch the design.

To add more dimension I fussy cut out some of the coral from the paper and adhered these around the design and adhered the mermaid sat on her rock using foam tape for dimension

The sentiment is from the Winnie Starfish & Sandcastles collection and I've used teal foil to add shine and sparkle with a clear sparkle pen.

This would make a perfect gift for someone (but I might just keep it for myself !)

Finishing touches where some teal confetti around the design, clear sparkle on Corals tail and some of the coral a
nd white  gel pen highlights.

I hope that you like my project today and you'll enjoy the next cards I share from Polkadoodles

Hasta luego ๐Ÿ‘‹

Enjoy the rest of your day !

Mermaid Kisses, Starfish Wishes - New Release - Aquatic Adventures with Julia McNeill Designs

Hello everyone Happy Monday I hope that you had a great weekend.

It's time for me to post my next project for JMC Designs .  There is a brand new digital collection called Aquatic Adventures and  I think you are going to love it as much as I do!

Perfect timing too if you love to create for MerMay!

It's a fabulous collection of 29 Digital stamps, 29 Pre Coloured Stamps, 11 ephemera sheets, 18 papers, 5 topper sheets and 4 sentiment sheets, so you will be spoilt for choice.

It's amazing value for money and there is a special 20% discount off the kit until midnight tonight (GMT) using the code aqua20 at the checkout

I decided for my first project with this new collection to make a bridge fold card so I could create an underwater scene, so cut a piece of aqua cardstock 7" x 7" and then scored this at 1", 2", 5" and 6".  The bridge section is a piece of card 5" x 1".  Its a really simple fold but perfect I think for this design.

I printed out one of the papers from the collection and used this to cover the card base and the bridge section.

Next I resized some the the pre-coloured elements from the collection and then printed them out before fussy cutting out.

I used a dark grey pen to cover the white edges ( great if you aren't too good at fussy cutting as it hides any mistakes! )

The ephemera and digital images were then adhered to the card, some flat, some with foam tape and I also used acetate so the mermaid and the fish appear to be floating in the sea.

The sweet sentiment also from the collection was printed out and then I've applied teal foil for the underwater look.

I
The finishing touches to the card were some sequins around the design to add sparkle and shine.

I really hope that you like my project today and it would be lovely if you you leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Enjoy the rest of your day !

You are Beautiful Inside and Out - New Release - Coral the Mermaid - with Polkadoodles

Hello and happy Thursday everyone...I hope that you are all enjoying the week.

I'm back today on my blog to share of my cards using the gorgeous new Coral the Mermaid Collection by Polkadoodles

Don't forget for a limited time there is a 40% discount available off this collection so I would encourage you to take a look.

Coral is a fabulous and fun collection of  6 mermaid character digital stamps.  There are also lots of extra elements, background scenes, beautiful papers and co-ordinating sentiments.

For todays card I was inspired by a recent card I saw the amazing Kelly Taylor make using an acetate overlay - here is a link to the video that inspired me to make my card.

I've made quite a few cards with acetate overlays in the past and I love them in real life as they give the card loads of depth to a scene but they are a nightmare to photograph!  So a huge thanks to Nikky at Polkadoodles for working her magic with my photo !

I used one of the background scenes - Fish ocean sea underwater scene and chose the Swimming Coral Mermaid for my main image resizing these in my graphics software to fit an A6 (UK Size) card.  I also  copied the angel fish from the background scene and resized as I wanted 3 of these on my final project.  When I was happy with all the elements for my card I printed these out on Alcohol marker friendly cardstock and then coloured with my promarkers before fussy cutting out.

I also chose one of the papers from the collection and printed this out stamping a sentiment from the Mixed Flowers Anemone set stamped with Versafine Clair ink onto the background paper before adhering to a panel of cardstock slightly smaller than my card blank.

Next I have adhered the seafloor to the bottom of the design and Coral in the centre of the card.

I have then taken a piece of acetate slightly wider than my card panel and wrapped this around the left hand edge adhering with strong tape to the back of the design panel - this way the acetate wont be seen at the back of the card but will look like a cover to the card.

I have then added the design panel with its acetate overlay to the front of my card base and then used glue to adhere the 3 extra fish to the top surface of the acetate.

When the card is stood up or laid flat it looks as though the little fish are swimming in front of the mermaid who is in the background.  Such as easy but really effective design.

Just a touch of clear sparkle pen was added to the image on the mermaid's tail and the goldfish to make it a little bit more magical.

I hope that you like my card today and you'll enjoy the next cards I share from Polkadoodles.
