Digi Choosday - Wednesdays - December birthday - Snowy Days Theo Hello with Polkadoodles

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday... I hope that you are having a good week....not long until Christmas day now so I hope that you have been good this year.

It's that time of the week when we launch a brand new 'Anything Goes' challenge over on the Polkadoodles Digi Choosday Blog so I hope you are going to join in and don't forget the amazing discount off all crafty printable downloads until midnight today!

The theme set for the DT this week is to create a December birthday using this colour palette.

I decided to create a Z-Fold Bookbinding card - I'm enjoying making these at the moment!

I started by creating the card base from a blue card, two pieces of card 1  measuring 11 1/2" x 5 7/8" and the second piece measuring 3 1/2 " x 5 7/8"

Next I scored the larger piece as follows along the long side:

  • 2 1/8", 4 1/4" , 5 1/2"
The card was folded and burnished and then the book binding edge was glued down to create the folded card.

I then chose some orange papers from the Freddy Fox collection and adhered these to my card base, leaving a small amount of the blue card showing.

In my graphics software, I then resized the Theo Hello penguin image from the brand new Snowy Days collection and printed this out onto alcohol marker friendly card along with the birthday sentiment from the collection.

I die cut an arched frame from the same blue card and mat and layered the birthday sentiment at the bottom of the arch.  I used the waste from the arched frame to add to the inside of the card.

Theo was coloured with my promarkers before being fussy cut out and adhering into the arch with foam tape.

I then used a balloon and bunting dies set to add details to my happy birthday card, ink blending the balloons fro dimension.

To finish off my card I added some gold confetti around the design , clear sparkle to the bunting and white gelly roll pen highlights to Theo.

I hope that you like my card today and you'll enjoy the next cards I share from Polkadoodles.

Hasta luego ๐Ÿ‘‹

Enjoy the rest of your day !

This weeks challenge is our Mega Christmas Challenge for both teams and being sponsored by lots of lovely and very generous companies. I chose to use a gorgeous image by Polkadoodles

The theme this week is - Anything goes

I chose to use a really cute image from the latest Theo Penguin - Snowy Days collection - Who can resist a cute penguin.  This is image is Waiting for Christmas

Its a larger A7 or 5" x 7"  size card with a  background layer of wintery paper from the collection.

I created a Christmas bauble for my card using a couple of circle nested dies, cutting from silver card and then blending distress oxide inks across a circle of white card to create my wintery scene.  The little fir trees where simply hand painted using a dark grey Brush pen and then I added snow to the trees using a white posca pen.

New Release - Snowy Days - Theo Penguin - with Polkadoodles

Hello everyone and happy Sunday I hope that your having a good weekend.

I hope you have heard the news already in your VIP email from Polkadoodles but if not then you are going to love this - everyone's favourite penguin Theo is back in a brand new collection of adorable images.....and for a limited time there is a 45% discount.

The brand new Snowy Days collection is perfect for all of those Winter celebrations, definitely not just for Christmas! and is packed with 28 adorable characters, icy scenes, and snowy designs—perfect for Christmas, Winter birthdays, and seasonal celebrations.

The collection includes colouring pages, pre-coloured clipart, greeting stamps, paper patterns and more for card making, digital scrapbooking, junk journals, and printable craft stickers.

There's loads of inspiration from the Polkadoodles Design team on the website in the gallery if you are looking for more ideas

Today I'm sharing my first card  perfect for all those Winter celebrations and very easy to create.  It's an adorable and super sparkly A6 landscape (UK size) card.

I've used one of the wonderful wintery scenes from the collection, resizing this for my card before printing out.  Then I have added a peice of double sided sticky sheet over the entire background before covering with super sparkly fine glitter.

Its an old bit magical technique called the Cracked Ice technique and perfect for those hoards of glitter that I'm sure we all have!  If you want a demonstration of this technique then there is a great YouTube video from 3 years ago by Jamie Rodgers that's worth a watch - here is the link

Once the background scene was complete and all the glitter completely burnished onto the card I adhered this panel to my card blank.  Theo with his ice cream was resized and printed out onto alcohol friendly card before colouring with my Promarkers (see below for colours) and then fussy cutting out by hand.

I added a die cute frame of silver mirri card to the card before adhering Theo at the bottom of the scene with foam tape for dimension.

The winter sentiment was layered onto more silver mirri card and added to the top left corner of the card.

The finishing touches were some white gelly roll pen highlights to Theo.  A super simple and very sparkly Winter card.

I hope that you like my card today and you'll enjoy the next cards I share from the new Snowy Days collection by Polkadoodles.

The theme set for the DT this week is to make a Christmas in July card using this colour palette. I know its not July when this is posted but it was made in July ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

As I absolutely adore penguins I decided to use Theo the Penguin for my card today choosing Sweet Candy Stick Theo for my focal image

I started by choosing one of the papers from the set for my background, I chose the Snowflake paper as it was perfect for this colour palette and in my graphics software I created a panel to suit a 5 x 7 card and added one of the sentiments from the collection to the top of this panel.

I then adhered this to my card blank adding a layer of navy cardstock for a small mat layer

I also printed out the cute Theo image on alcohol marker friendly card stock and coloured this with my promarkers, sticking to the given colour palette - well apart from Theo obviously !

Next I die cut some snowflakes from glitter cardstock and adhered these to the panel finally mounting my fussy cut our Theo on foam tape.

To finish off the card I added just a few co-ordinating sequins.

I have a very special DT discount code that you can use for all your shopping on the Polkadoodles online shop at checkout use WENDYJ-10 and you will get 10% of your entire purchase (not in conjunction with other discount codes!)

New Release - Theo the Penguin - Skiing with Polkadoodles

Hello everyone happy Wednesday and a Happy Winter Solstice too!

Do you love to Ski?

I'd like to be able to say.....ooh yes we go skiing every year, especially as there is a wonderful Ski resort only about 1 hour away above Granada in the Sierra Nevada mountain range...but sadly we don't.

I have had lessons when I was younger on dry slopes and up in Scotland in Aviemore on real snow but its just not for me.

I'm terrified of the feeling of moving downhill, walking too !  I think its because of my poor balance and vertigo and its definitely got worse over recent years.

Oh well I'll stick to more sedate activities on level ground ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

Today I have a wintery card for you using the cute digital Ski Theo coloured with my promarkers and then fussy cut out.

The sentiment and wintery paper are also from the Theo the Penguin collection and I've added the sentiment to my paper panel on the computer before printing it out.

Its a simple 5" x7" card for today with a simple design but I think this would be a great winter birthday card too especially for anyone that loves to Ski.

I hope that you like my card today and you'll enjoy the next card I share.
