A Passion for Markers Blog Spot Challenge #807 - Anything floral - Sponsored by SheepSki Designs

Hello everyone wishing you all a lovely day - So after a wonderful holiday in Mallorca I'm back and raring to go !  Ha Ha Ha ....not quite!, I've not quite got my crafty mojo back - its probably sunning itself on holiday still! but hopefully it will return soon as I have lots of new goodies to play with.

So to get things moving there's a new challenge has started over on the Passion for Markers Blog challenge and I hope that you will join in.

This weeks challenge theme of 'Anything floral' has been chosen by Elaine for team 2 and is being sponsored by Sheepski Designs. The online Etsy store is now sadly closed but the lucky winner will be sent a link to download their chosen 3 images.

If you know me then you know I love strong vibrant colours but I decided to create a more delicate looking card for today and chose to use this fabulous Daisy Panel image.

We have some beautiful daisy type flowers in our garden in some striking vibrant colours...I always thought they were called Livingstone Daisies or Mesembryanthemums but I'm not so sure now so I will have to do a bit of research.  There are some white ones too which have a hint of shocking pink at the centre so that's my inspiration for today.

The image was resized to suit the DL card, printing onto alcohol friendly card stock before colouring  with my Promarkers.  I also printed out 5 extra flowers and fussy cut these out, layering up with foam squares for dimension.

To create the background I used a pale teal green promarker around the flowers, blending out to white. Then I chose a couple of distress inks and blended these into the design.   I splattered some distress ink around the flowers and the finishing touches were some clear drops around the flowers.

The sentiment was printed directly onto the panel.

I hope that you join in with the challenge as there is a prize from the sponsor for our lucky winner!

I really hope that you have enjoyed my card today and will drop by again to see my next project and don't forget to join in with the challenge over on the Passion for Markers blog

A Passion for Markers BlogSpot #749 - Christmas in July - Sponsored by SheepSki Designs

Hello everyone wishing you all a lovely day !

Today I'm here to let you know that a new challenge has started over on the Passion for Markers Blog challenge and I hope that you will join in.

This weeks challenge theme of 'Christmas in July' (Well it had to be really ! has been chosen by Me for team 2 and is being sponsored by Sheepski Designs

For my card today I chose to use a fun digital image called Snowmen Selfie...I wanted to make today's card look like one of those old Polaroid photos..not that old really and I think they had a bit of a trendy come back a couple of years ago!

This is a simple portrait card that easily fits into a standard 6" x 6" envelope.  I started off by creating my card blank cutting a piece of lilac card measuring 12" x 5" and scoring at 6", folding and burnishing.

The image was then resized to suit the card and I also printed out a digital sentiment on alcohol friendly card stock in my LaserJet printer.

I coloured the snowmen with my Promarkers, keeping a simple vivid palette (see below for colours used) and then foiled the sentiment in my Minc machine.
I then used a rectangular die  and a square die to create my polaroid, cutting out of glossy phot paper so I could mount the frame over the image.
The foiled sentiment was mounted onto the bottom of the frame using scrap card for a small amount of depth.

The finishing touches were some white roll pen highlights and I used a white posca pen on one of the hats.

I hope that you join in with the challenge as there is a prize from the sponsor for our lucky winner!

I really hope that you have enjoyed my card today and will drop by again to see my next project and don't forget to join in with the challenge over on the Passion for Markers blog

I Love Promarkers #563 - Masculine card - Sponsored by SheepSki Designs

Hello everyone wishing you a wonderful Wednesday!

I'm on my blog today for the new bi-weekly I Love Promarkers blog challenge , it would be wonderful if you joined us over there if you love to colour with alcohol markers and don't forget there are prizes up for grabs.

You can find all of the rules and details for the challenge over on the blog.

This challenge is being sponsored by Sheepski Designs

Here is my inspiration card for the current blog challenge with the theme - a masculine card, using the very beautiful Birthday Cocktail digital stamp .

When I'm making masculine cards I always think is it something I would make for my hubby, definitely no frou frou !

He definitely likes cocktails so my card today is inspired by a new cocktail that we've found called a Bikini Martini which is a layered cocktail containing coconut rum, vodka, pineapple juice and grenadine.

Todays card is a simple A6 (UK Size) portrait card with a mat layer of gold mirri cardstock.  The focal image was resized to suit my design and I added a digital sentiment at the bottom of the panel before printing out on alcohol marker friendly card stock.

Next I coloured the image with Promarkers (see below for colours) and then for extra shine I used my Minc machine to apply gold foil over the top of the image, it gives it such a beautiful finish and doesn't really need much else.
I decided though to add a little grey ink as a shadow below the glass and then used a new stencil with a couple of distress inks for some celebratory confetti in the background.

I really hope that you like my card today and will drop by again to see my next project and don't forget to join in with the challenge over on the I Love Markers blog

The team is having a well earned break now but we'll be back on the 7th August with our next challenge.

I Love Promarkers #557 - Shapes - Sponsored by Sheepski Designs

Hello everyone wishing you a wonderful Wednesday!

I'm on my blog today for the new bi-weekly I Love Promarkers blog challenge , it would be wonderful if you joined us over there if you love to colour with alcohol markers and don't forget there are prizes up for grabs.

You can find all of the rules and details for the challenge over on the blog.

This challenge is being sponsored by Sheepski Designs

Here is my inspiration card for the current blog challenge with the theme - Use Shapes, using the very beautiful Wild Roses digital stamp.

My favourite colour combination at the moment is yellow and purple, they are such happy Spring colours so I decided my wild roses would be a pale yellow. Todays card is a 5" x 7" portrait card.

I resized the digital image to suit my design and then printed out on alcohol marker friendly card stock before
colouring with Promarkers (see below for colours) and fussy cutting out.
I then used my Minc machine to apply rose gold foil over the top of the floral image, it gives it such a beautiful finish.

Next I created the background panel, starting with a piece of white card stock, I used several hexagon dies to cut out apertures in the panel and then used a floral embossing folder to add texture.

I used a piece of purple designer paper adhering this behind the apertures and then splattered gold metallic paint over the entire panel.

Once dry I mounted the panel onto my card blank using foam tape and then used foam tape to add the wild rose sprig over the design.

The finishing touches were a few pieces of rose gold confetti around the design and a simple strip sentiment.

I really hope that you like my card today and will drop by again to see my next project and don't forget to join in with the challenge over on the I Love Markers blog

A Passion for Markers Blog Spot Challenge #730 - Shaped Cards

Hello everyone wishing you all a lovely day !

Today I'm here to let you know that a new challenge has started over on the Passion for Markers Blog challenge and I hope that you will join in.

This weeks challenge theme of 'Shaped Cards' has been chosen by Kitty for team 2 and being sponsored by Sheepski Designs

I chose to use one of the beautiful floral digital images called Dahlias for my card today....

I love these flowers when they are hot and spicy so that inspired my colour palette.
This is a 5 x 7 portrait card with a cut out around the top of the flowers, I have handcut this but you can create the same effect partial die cutting too for physical stamps.

The image was resized to suit the card, printed on a laser printer and then coloured with my Promarkers.  I also printed the sentiment and then applied teal Minc foil to add gorgeous shine to the sentiment.
I started by fussy cutting out the top of the floral panel and then used this to trace the outline on to the card blank.

The top section was then cut away from the card before adhering the coloured floral panel over the top.  I then chose a textured teal cardstock and adhered a panel of this to the inside of the card - I love the contrast of the pinks and orange of the flower with the teal - a perfect combination.
To finish off my design I have added a few pieces of teal confetti around the design.

I hope that you join in with the challenge as there is a prize from the sponsor for our lucky winner!

I really hope that you have enjoyed my card today and will drop by again to see my next project and don't forget to join in with the challenge over on the Passion for Markers blog

I love Promarkers #545 Wings or Tails Sponsored by Sheepski Designs

Hello everyone wishing you a wonderful Wednesday! I hope that you are having a lovely week.

Here is my inspiration card for the current blog challenge with the theme - Wings or Tails, using the wonderful digital stamp called Hanging Around, this is definitely one of our kitties.

Foxy is our youngest ginger tabby and he sadly loves chasing little birds so this is very appropriate, fortunately for the birds he's not very good climbing trees as a result of an injured hip.

I wanted to make an A6 popup frame card to create a little landscape tree scene for todays image.

For the pop up element I have used a piece of chocolate brown measuring 8 3/4 " x 4 1/4" cardstock , scoring this along the long edge at 1/2", 1 & 1 1/2" on both ends.

There is a great tutorial on YouTube tutorial by Jennifer McGuire, showing how to make these make a popup up frame cards.   If you haven't seen the video here is the link.

The aperture in the frame part of the card was cut using a fancy corner die and I added some leafy pattern paper to the base of the card before adding my popup frame.

Once my base card was created it was time for some inky fun!

I printed out the cat image onto alcohol friendly card stock before colouring with my promarkers and fussy cutting out.

I then adhered this to my popup frame attaching the trunk of the tree to the outside of the frame and securing the kitty on to a thin strip of acetate which is secured into the popup mechanisms on either side of the frame.

I also decided to add a few die cut leaves to the frame to continue the scene with a few coordinating sequins adhered  onto the background panel.

The sentiment was hand cut and then mounted at the bottom and I added a little glossy accents to the kitties eyes to finish off today's design.

I really hope that you like my card today and will drop by again to see my next project and don't forget to join in with the challenge over on the I Love Markers blog
