Hello everyone and happy Wednesday... I hope that you're having a great week...This year is going by so fast I can't quite believe that it's the Middle of October already......it'll be Halloween before we know it LOL
We won't be here in Spain this year to celebrate as we will be in Japan for several weeks, touring the country and I'm not even sure if Halloween is celebrated there or not - I'll let you know !
It's time for the Design Team to share some more inspiration for our current 'Anything Goes' challenge over on the Polkadoodles Digi Choosday Blog. I hope you are going to join in and don't forget the amazing Digi Choosday discount off all crafty printable downloads!
Don't Forget that our challenges our now 4 weekly so there's loads of time for you to join in and more chances to win too!
The theme set for the DT this week by Nikky was to create something for a Halloween Party, I decided I would create something Halloween style cake decorations.
As you can imagine this went down particularly well with Mr Jaackson as that meant he would be able to eat the cakes once I had taken my photos......He has such a hard life
The actual cakes are Magdalena's, which are traditional Spanish small sponge cakes or muffins flavoured with lemon zest and olive oil. They are light, fluffy and typically baked in paper liners with a crunchy sugar crust on top. Spaniards commonly enjoy them for breakfast or as an afternoon snack, often dipped in coffee or milk.
Mr Jackson loves them at any time of the day.
I started by cutting squares of lime green and orange metallic finish tissue paper and adding 2 squares to each cake, securing the tissue in place with elastic bands - its doesn't have to be anything fancy, you could use twine if you wanted.
Next I set about creating the little flags for each cake, using pinchos sticks which are 6" wooden sticks, normally used for skewering pinchos or pintxos.
I printed out several pre-coloured images from the Hocus Pocus - Autumn Fall Treats bundle and the Hocus Pocus - Witches bundle, fussy cutting these out.
Next I used a fancy edged die to cut 6 circles of black card and then 6 smaller circles of orange or purple card stock, layering these up to create the bases.
I used a little distress ink on some of the sentiment backgrounds and added a couple of stencilled cobwebs to a couple of the circles.
The little coloured elements were then adhered to the disc using foam tape before adding sparkly gems, glitter pen and white gel pen highlights. I adhered small pieces of bakers twine on the back of the little balloons
Once all the cake decorations were dried I used a hot glue gun to stick the wooden poncho sticks to the reverse of each and added a decoration stick to each cake.
I don't think it could actually get any easier and these would be perfect for any party - shame they won't last very long in our house LOL
Hasta luego 👋
Enjoy the rest of your day !
